Shaded Farmland

This painting was pulled from various photographs and memories of my childhood growing up in the country. Layers of color create the slightly abstracted artwork. My landscape paintings are intended to invoke a sense of dreamlike nostalgia by the viewer. Although you may not have witnessed the actual scenery depicted, I hope the imagery takes you to a place of fond memories and feelings of peace. Just Imagine... You’re standing on the peak of a small hill. The elevation is only slightly higher than the surrounding farm land, but enough to allow you to see far into the distance. Wildflowers dance among the tall untamed grass. Barrels of hay create distinct shadows in the fields below. As the sun sets the vibrant colors fade into muted shades of light and dark. In the shadows, insects chirp and overcome the silence.
